RAMONES Documentary Coming On DVD In March
January 27, 2005Launch Radio Networks is reporting that the recent theatrical documentary about the RAMONES will be released on DVD on March 15. "End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones" follows the band's musical history, the often-strained personal relationships between the members, and their drug use. The film has interviews with band members, their friends, and other members of the New York City punk scene, as well as never-before-seen footage from the recording studio and their live shows, which started at CBGB in New York City and took them around the world.
Bonuses on the DVD include: "Who Wrote What On The First Three Albums" by Tommy Ramone; a Marky Ramone drum technique clinic, interview excerpts with Joey, Johnny, Tommy, Dee Dee, and Richie Ramone, CLASH frontman Joe Strummer, and BLONDIE's Deborah Harry and Chris Stein; and scenes of BLONDIE drummer Clem Burke dressed as "Elvis Ramone."
Tommy Ramone is the only surviving member of the original lineup — Joey died from lymphatic cancer in 2001, Dee Dee from a drug overdose in 2002, and Johnny from prostate cancer this past September.
Marky Ramone released his own DVD last year called "Ramones Raw". It was made of footage from his personal archive.
